The permanent magnet coupling replaces the physical connection between the motor and the load with an air gap. The interaction between permanent magnets and non-ferrous metal conductors smoothly transmits torque from the motor to the load through the air gap and drives the load to rotate.The smaller the air gap, the larger the torque. When the working machine operates under the rated load condition, the air gap between the permanent magnet rotor and the conductor rotor is minimized. In case of overload or seizure of the working machine, the air gap between the permanent magnet rotor and the conductor rotor increases rapidly to the maximum value, and the speed of the permanent magnet rotor at the working machine end decreases or even drops to zero, thereby achieving overload protection for the motor.When the overload or seizure condition is eliminated, the positions of the permanent magnet rotor and the conductor rotor are restored to the original minimum air gap by the restoring mechanism, and the machine resumes normal operation.

 

The rare earth magnets adopted in permanent magnet coupling technology have a half-life of over 2,000 years, can withstand temperatures up to 180°C, and are robust and durable. These permanent magnets are made of neodymium-iron-boron (NdFeB), featuring a compact structure and lightweight design, which allow permanent magnet coupling products to realize small dimensions and high torque transmission capacity.

 

Studies show that over 80% of rotating equipment failures are related to vibration. The air gap technology of permanent magnet couplings is more tolerant of misalignment than traditional couplings, and eliminates vibration transmission between shafts. Unlike conventional fully-contacting couplings, the magnetic rotors and conductor rotors of permanent magnet couplings are non-contacting. This means there are no lubrication points or wear-prone connections, significantly extending the service life of bearings, seals and other equipment components. Permanent magnet couplings are made of corrosion-resistant materials, coatings and durable electroplating, and can be installed either indoors or outdoors.
